Exporting to PDF and Word
Turn your finished draft into a file you can print, e-file, or edit further.

Two export formats
When a document is ready, DocTik exports it in two formats: PDF and Word. Each serves a different purpose, and you can use whichever fits how you plan to file.
When to use PDF
PDF is the standard for filing. It preserves your formatting exactly, looks the same on every device, and is what most court e-filing portals expect. Export to PDF when your document is final and you are ready to print or upload it to the court.
When to use Word
Word (.docx) is the choice when you still need to make changes outside DocTik — to apply a specific court template, adjust formatting, or have someone review and edit it. Export to Word when you want a fully editable copy.
- PDF: final, fixed formatting, ready to file
- Word: editable, for further changes or review
After exporting
Once you have your file, file it through your court’s proper channel — in person, by mail, or via the e-filing portal. After it is submitted and you have a conformed copy, upload that copy back to DocTik and mark the document as filed so your case record stays complete. See "Marking documents as filed."
