Getting better answers from the AI
Practical tips for asking questions that get you useful, specific responses.

Give it your documents first
The single biggest thing you can do to improve answers is upload your documents. When the assistant can see the actual complaint, notice, or contract, it can reason about your real situation instead of guessing. Ask your question after your key documents are in the case.
Be specific about your goal
Vague questions get vague answers. Instead of "What do I do?", try "I was served an unlawful detainer in Las Vegas on June 1. What are my options for responding and how long do I have?" Telling the AI what you are trying to accomplish lets it tailor the response.
- Include dates, your role, and the court or county when relevant
- Say what outcome you want — to respond, to negotiate, to understand a document
- Ask one clear question at a time for the sharpest answers
Follow up and refine
Treat it as a conversation. If an answer is too general, ask it to go deeper ("Explain the answer step by step") or to focus ("Just tell me about the deadline"). The assistant remembers the thread, so each follow-up builds on the last.
Use research mode for hard questions
For questions that need rules, procedures, or citations, switch to research mode for a more thorough, sourced answer. For quick explanations and back-and-forth, the default mode is faster and lighter on credits. See "Research mode vs default mode."
Always verify before you rely
