Tracking deadlines and your timeline
See your whole case as a timeline and never lose track of a due date.

The case timeline
Every case has a timeline that lays out events in chronological order — when you were served, when you responded, when hearings are set, and what is still ahead. Seeing the case as a single sequence makes it far easier to understand where you are and what comes next.
Where deadlines come from
Deadlines reach your timeline in three ways:
- Automatically, when the AI extracts a date from a document you upload
- From a court docket import, which brings in hearing dates and filings
- Manually, when you add a deadline yourself
However a deadline gets in, you can edit its date, rename it, or delete it if it no longer applies.
Staying ahead of due dates
Upcoming deadlines appear on both your dashboard and the case timeline, with the nearest ones highlighted. This gives you a running answer to the most important question in any case: "What do I need to do, and by when?"

Turning deadlines into action
A deadline often implies a task — drafting a response, gathering evidence, or filing a document. DocTik connects these so an upcoming due date can become an open item you can work through. See "Managing open items and tasks" to learn how.
